Shiplogic app – Terms of service

These terms of service ("Terms") govern your use of the Shiplogic mobile application ("the App") published by Shiplogic (Pty) Ltd ("Shiplogic", "we", "us", or "our"). The App is available for iOS (com.shiplogic.driver) and Android (com.shiplogic.app).

By downloading, signing in to, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. About the App

The App is a work tool used by delivery drivers and depot staff to manage shipments, collections, tracking events, and proof of delivery on behalf of a courier provider that uses the Shiplogic platform ("Courier Provider").

Shiplogic provides the software only. Shiplogic is not a courier, does not employ or contract drivers, and is not a party to any agreement between you and your Courier Provider.

2. Eligibility and accounts

  • The App is only for people whose accounts have been set up by a Courier Provider on the Shiplogic platform. There is no public sign-up.
  • You must be at least 18 years old, or the legal working age in your jurisdiction, to use the App.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Do not share your account with anyone else.
  • Tell your Courier Provider or Shiplogic straight away if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
  • Your Courier Provider may create, change, suspend, or remove your account at any time.

3. Fees

The App is free for drivers and depot staff to download and use. Use of the Shiplogic platform by Courier Providers is governed by separate agreements between Shiplogic and those providers. Normal mobile data charges from your network operator may apply.

4. Acceptable use

When using the App, you agree to:

  • Use the App only for legitimate work for your Courier Provider
  • Capture accurate information, including tracking events, recipient details, signatures, and proof of delivery photos
  • Not falsify deliveries, collections, locations, signatures, or any other records
  • Not use the App while driving in a way that is unsafe or breaks road traffic laws. Only use the App when it is safe and lawful to do so
  • Handle the personal information of recipients and senders only for the purpose of carrying out deliveries and collections, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and other applicable laws
  • Not copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or try to get the source code of the App
  • Not interfere with, disrupt, or try to gain unauthorised access to the App, the Shiplogic platform, or connected hardware such as lockers

Use of the App is also subject to our Acceptable use policy.

5. Location, camera, and other permissions

The App needs certain device permissions to work, including location (foreground and background while you are on duty), camera, photo library, Bluetooth, and notifications. You can manage these permissions in your device settings, but turning them off may limit what the App can do. Details of what data is collected and why are set out in the Shiplogic app privacy policy.

6. Privacy

Our handling of personal information through the App is described in the Shiplogic app privacy policy, which forms part of these Terms.

7. Intellectual property

The App, the Shiplogic platform, and all related software, content, trademarks, and logos are owned by Shiplogic or its licensors. As long as you comply with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the App on devices you own or control, only for work for your Courier Provider.

Operational data you capture in the App (such as tracking events and proof of delivery) is processed on behalf of your Courier Provider.

8. Third-party services

The App relies on third-party services, including Google Maps, Firebase, and Sentry, and may connect to third-party hardware such as Bob Box lockers. Your use of those services may also be subject to their own terms. Shiplogic is not responsible for third-party services or hardware.

9. Availability and updates

We aim to keep the App available and working reliably, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available in every location. We may update, change, or stop offering any part of the App at any time. Some updates may be required to keep using the App.

10. Suspension and termination

We or your Courier Provider may suspend or end your access to the App at any time, including if you breach these Terms, if your relationship with your Courier Provider ends, or if your Courier Provider stops using Shiplogic. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it.

11. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Navigation and map data are for guidance only. You must always follow road signs, traffic laws, and your own judgement.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Shiplogic will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or earnings, arising from or related to your use of the App. Shiplogic is not responsible for the employment, contracting, payment, or working conditions agreed between you and your Courier Provider, or for the delivery services provided by Courier Providers.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. If you keep using the App after the changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the App will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of the Republic of South Africa.
